REASONS TO USE A CERTIFIED CAT GROOMER
There are many reasons for a veterinarian to use and recommend a certified cat groomer. The most important is that it improves the over all health of the cat. There is less dead hair to form hairballs and cause intestinal problems. Less dead hair also means less matting and skin irritation. With less skin irritation, there is less chance of skin infections or over-grooming. The haircoat is not the only part of the cat that a certified cat groomer looks at. The ears, eyes, and mouth are also noted. Many times the groomer is the first person to notice changes in the cat’s health and can point out subtle changes that indicate the beginnings of a problem. This allows the cat to be evaluated by the veterinarian for the changes.
Caring for a 19 year old senior kitty with multiple health issues is difficult enough without adding Covid 19 restrictions to the list. When it became obvious Fiona needed care for her fur and skin I turned to Cheryl for help. Fiona had never been to a groomer before and the stress it might produce was of major concern to me. Cheryl carefully listened to my concerns and worked with me to devise a multi-step plan to not only bathe and groom Fiona but also address Covid 19 safety issues for us “humans”. From the moment we arrived I felt so safe. It didn’t take long to realize that Fiona was in great hands and responding positively to her spa experience. Cheryl’s caring, expertise and attentive monitoring of Fiona’s behavior couldn’t have been more perfect. Seeing Fiona shoulder deep in water and completely relaxed during her 15 minute spa bath treatment was something I will never forget. The end result is a new Fiona. She is back home relaxed and moving with greater ease than I have seen in months. Her fur, greasy and unkempt before, is now soft and fluffy and her posture and movements show a kitty who is contented and happy. I came home too, so happy to have found our new cat groomer. Thank you so much Cheryl! Gertrude wants to know when she can come and see you.
